October 2017 Breast Cancer Awareness Month Proclamation Signing

The Department of Public Health and Social Services, Guam Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program and the Guam Comprehensive Cancer Control Program, in partnership with the Non-Communicable Disease Consortium, Guam Comprehensive Cancer Control Coalition, and other community organizations are pleased to announce October as “Breast Cancer Awareness Month”.  A proclamation signing is scheduled for Friday, October 6, 2017 at 2:15 p.m., at the Adelup Governor’s Large Conference Room.

This year marks the 33rd anniversary of proclaiming October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  The annual campaign aims to create awareness and promote mammography as the most effective tool in the fight against breast cancer.  This is also to educate women and their families of the common signs, symptoms and types of breast cancer, understanding the pathology and treatment options, and resources available to assist in coping with and managing the disease.

Other activities are scheduled throughout the month (Please refer attached BCAM Calendar of Activities).  For more information concerning this event, please contact Rachel Ramirez at (671) 735-0675 / (671) 929-8772 or e-mail @: rachel.ramirez@dphss.guam.gov or Arlie Bonto at (671) 735-0672/ (671) 488-7023 or e-mail@: arlie.bonto@dphss.guam.gov.
